Best things to do for yourself during the winter
February is one of the toughest months to get through, with the cold weather and short days. The new year hype is over and life is settled back into its hum-drum monotonous rhythm. It’s the odd spot between new years and spring, a lull in the excitement. Life can get pretty dull, and those February blahs can settle in. So take some time for yourself during these last winter days! Spring is almost here, so hold on! Self care is important to get through these last cold winter days – to get over the blahs and make the days enjoyable and interesting.
Take a bath
One of the most relaxing things to do is take a hot bath with a bath bomb or bath salts. Take some “me time” and just soak for an hour! You’ll feel revitalized and awake, so you can go back to the dreary cold outside feeling energized. It’s a great self care routine to try out especially in cold seasons!
It’s also a great opportunity to just think peacefully. We’re always so busy – we need to take time to settle back and think, just about life, or ourselves, or our plans, in a peaceful solitary environment. This is a great way to do that.
Read a book
Pick out a old favorite or find something new. Grab a blanket and a cup of hot chocolate and settle in. Relax and enjoy your book. Books can make time fly and are an awesome way to pass the cold winter days inside if your bored. Maybe you’ll find a new favorite!

Work out
Exercise! Its one of the best things you can do for your body and an awesome way to make yourself feel alive (you’ll feel it the next day!😄) Show your body some love and get it moving. During the cold days it can be hard to do much outside so if you have a home gym, or if you have a gym membership, work out inside and the self care will have rich results. You’ll become healthier and be using up time that may otherwise have been spent on your phone or other wastes of time. More importantly, exercising gives one a a sense of accomplishment. You did something hard – pushed through – and good things will come from it.
Try a new hobby
Ever wanted to try a new craft but never found the time? Well now would be perfect! It’s cold out and life can begin to lag. Take an interest in something new and improve your capabilities. Whether its baking, knitting, building puzzles, scrapbooking, jewelry making, or crocheting; picking up a hobby is a great way to pass the time. It’s also a self care idea because putting time and effort into something that you made gives a sense of success and pleasure in your work. It can give you something to focus on, and give purpose to your time so it is well spent.

Go give yourself some love during these winter days!
Have fun with these ideas, try them out. Some may not work for you – everyone’s different. But find a way to take some time for yourself and do useful productive things for your mind, body, or others. The season of winter is almost over, hold on! If you use all the excess time and replace the “blahs” with doing things you love, you could start to look forward to this in betweenish season. I hope you enjoy these ideas and try them out. Self care is one of the best ways to get through these last cold winter days!
